The Argentinian central defender born in 1993 comes from Newell’s Old Boys for a rumoured fee of around 1.5 million euros, with the player signing a contract stretching for four years.
At only 24 years old, Paz is very young for a defender, and he can become a pillar of Bologna’s defence for years to come. He stands at 1.91 cm, which makes him very dominant in the air, but his greatest strengths lie in winning the ball without having to drop into the tackle. He is a good reader of the game as well as a good passer of the ball. Paz is left-footed, and he seems like a player that can form a strong partnership with Giancarlo Gonzalez. The defender has proved that he is quite versatile, as he has featured as left-back for his side as well.
1.5 million euros is a very reasonable price for a player like Paz, but Bologna will have to give twenty percent of a future sale to the Argentinian side. It is also rumoured to be a clause in the purchase that says that if Bologna are to qualify for the Champions League before 2020, then Newell’s Old Boys are entitled to an additional 500 000 euros. Let’s hope we’ll get to pay them the additional money in a couple of years time.
