Mercato time – what to expect?

Well, another season is gone, and what a rollercoaster it was. We started the season with Filippo Inzaghi in charge, something which did not work as hoped. When Sinisa Mihajlovic took over in late January, everything changed. 10th place, seven straight home wins, and lots of optimism.

Today is the day when the official announcement of Mihajlovic extending his contract at the club, as well as that of Walter Sabatini becoming the new technical director at the club. With those ready, we can look forward to a summer of action. The Serbian coach has asked for assurances with regards to new players, and the work has already started.

Riccardo Orsolini is all but a Bologna player, with the club buying him outright from Juventus for 15 million euros. Official announcement is the only thing missing here. The club is also working on securing Lyanco, although Torino value him highly. If we can get him, our defence is close to complete for the upcoming season.

Our coach has apparently requested several new players, plus additional ones if any first team-players are to leave. A right back will be a priority in defence alongside a central defender.

Miha also wants a new trequartista, and the dream remains Adem Ljajic. The attacking midfielder has worked alongside Mihajlovic previously at Torino. The coach also wants a new striker, with names like Gregoire Defrel and Roberto Inglese being mentioned. Manolo Gabbiadini’s name is also still being linked with us.

Time will tell what happens, but one thing is for certain, Bologna have a very interesting summer ahead of them.

Until next time.

  1. Good to read you again!

I’m looking forward to hearing about Mihailovic’s official confirmation as well as the hiring of Sabatini. Did love for Lyanco to stay, but it will be very tough to convince Torino.

I’m also with you that we need defense side players, especially someone on the side of Mbaye, who is not as strong as Dijcks.

Then, it’d be great to have a striker who scored more than 10 goals. Frankly, I’d rather keep Santander and sell Destro.

  2. Thanks for the kind words.

They’re working on Lyanco, but it will definitely be tough. Reading that we’re also in the marked for a central midfielder.

As for the strikers, I too am leaning towards keeping Santander rather than Destro. One of them alongside Falcinelli will most certainly leave this summer.
